Effects of Geohazards and Severe Weather Events as a Retrospect throughout 2009/2010.
Geohazards and particularly geohazards in urban areas or close to infrastructure are the main causes that lead to major financial losses year by year in many countries. This presentation is a result of 2009/2010 seasons experiences.
Although natural hazards today can be estimated up to some degree, there is no form of hazard which means more economically than natural hazards. While the incidents took place in 2009/2010, there was a need to set together overviews of the disasters and the expected size of events at critical locations .
Remote sensing technologies, along with related geospatial technologies, contribute powerful tools for preserving and protecting the critical infrastructure from geohazards incidents.
Earth observation from satellite may be considered an “information business.” The goal of the business is to obtain Earth resource information by measuring and examining electromagnetic radiation reflected or emitted from the Earth’s surface and from subsurface materials and supply the data information to users. There are currently three remote-sensing data-collection models: commercial, government, and a hybrid commercial-government model.

The participants
Marko Troon was a member of the Norwegian National Rail Administrations and The Norwegian Public Roads Administrations corps of engineers/civil engineers from 2009 to 2013 and participated in different projects and in the emergency management as a emergency responder or engineering geologist. He was the first Estonian in this positions. He is currently occasionally active in the management of the not-for-profit organisation Geo-Mode in Oslo. Marko Troon ‘s path led as an senior principal engineer over the, from 1996 until the 2010´s existing, Norwegian National Rail Administration to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Central Region.
